Conference: Hamas, the Gaza War, and Accountability under International Law This conference, held on June 18, 2009, attempted to fill the gap by critically examining the laws of war and laws of terrorism and genocide and their application to Hamas and its supporters and allies. The conference aimed to produce workable suggestions for increasing legal accountability for Hamas and other similar non-state violators of international law in the age of terrorism. |

Ending Impunity or Decreasing Accountability: Averting Abuse of Universal Jurisdiction The Global Law Forum, with sponsorship from the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and the Henry Jackson Society, hosted a conference in London on November 26 entitled “Ending Impunity or Decreasing Accountability: Averting Abuse of Universal Jurisdiction ” The conference will deal with the issue of state courts extending their domestic jurisdiction to criminally and civilly punish foreign nationals who committed crimes or torts in foreign locations and foreign persons. |
